About Tembusu

Tembusu Training and Therapy weaves together play, creativity, and evidence-based practice to support children, families, and the professionals who care for them. Guided by a deep respect for each person’s innate resilience, the work rests on a relational, client-centred Gestalt framework that honours lived experience and personal strengths.

Since 2007, Director and Senior Therapist Lee Sock Kuan has journeyed alongside children, youths, adults, and families as they navigate trauma, developmental challenges, mental health concerns, and relationship difficulties. Over the years, she saw how talk alone was often not enough especially for children and those whose experiences are held more in the body than in words. This led her to deepen her training in Gestalt Play Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Play Therapy, Sandplay Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Family Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy, integrating creative and somatic modalities into her clinical work.

From this commitment, Tembusu grew into a practice where therapy and training sit side by side. Children and families find a safe, protected space to express themselves through play and creative media, while parents are supported to understand their child more fully and make meaningful, confident changes at home.
At the same time, mental health professionals come to Tembusu to be equipped - through workshops, certification-linked trainings, and supervision - to offer developmentally attuned, relational and creative therapy to the children and families they serve.
Our Mission
Tembusu’s mission is to nurture growth and healing in children, families, and communities by offering compassionate, developmentally sensitive therapy grounded in Gestalt and play-based approaches. We seek to empower parents as key figures in their children’s lives and to partner closely with them in understanding and supporting their child.

Alongside clinical work, Tembusu is dedicated to raising the standard of child and family mental health practice in the region by training and supervising counsellors, therapists, psychologists, and social workers. As a recognised provider of West Coast Institute, Singapore Association for Counselling and Association for Play Therapy (Singapore), Tembusu offers accredited workshops and supervision that foster ethical, reflective, and skilled practice.
