:: What is Creative Therapy ::
Creative arts therapy is the practice of using expressive techniques such as imagery, storytelling, music, drama, poetry, dance & movement, dreamwork and visual arts in psychotherapy to foster healing, development, and transformation. As McNiff (2005) described, it is not only an expressive action but a creative energy that engages that engages one’s body, mind, and spirit. Its creative imagination can find its way throughout most perplexing and complex problems and conflicts.

:: Enhancing the Self ::
Hurting and traumatized children and adolescents like adults, need to explore their feelings, to express themselves and to make sense of their life experiences to cope and function healthily in the world. Conventional talking therapies may be inappropriate as they may struggle to find the words to describe complex feelings. Creative visual arts, used within therapeutic play settings offers them a natural and safe expression towards healing and restoration. The modality offers much flexibility to meet the complex, facilitating children and adolescents towards strengthened self through better emotional expression.
