Come and experience the magic of Play Therapy in this one day course on the Fundamentals of Play Therapy.
In this workshop, you will experience key aspects of play therapy practice. The participant will gain an understanding of: the therapeutic relationship; the therapeutic power of play; how children communicate through the use of symbolism and metaphors; best practices in selecting toys and setting up a playroom.
We will also take this opportunity to network with fellow play therapy enthusiasts, sharing employment opportunities and training requirements for working therapeutically with children and finally introduce Dr. Alicia’s new book on Play Therapy in Asia and “My Wonderful Life” Board game.

Suited for individuals considering taking up professional training in Play Therapy as well as professionals who are already working with children e.g. social workers, occupational/speech therapists, mental health professionals, residential workers etc. No previous experience of Play Therapy is necessary but a willingness and enthusiasm for play is very much welcomed.

About the Trainer
Dr. Alicia Pon has been a child psychotherapist and social worker for over 20 years. Her training is in General Psychology, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Play Therapy, Sandplay Therapy, Somatic Experiencing®, Grief Counseling and Social Work.
Dr. Pon spent 16 years in Hong Kong, serving children and their families through her private practice group. Her experiences and specializations include divorce & separation, grief & loss, complex trauma, adoption & attachment, developmental stresses, and parent-child relationship. In 2017, Dr. Pon returned to Singapore. She now serves as a Senior Lecturer with the National University of Singapore. She lectures on child and adolescent social work, counseling, play therapy and sandtray therapy. Dr. Pon continues to provide therapy services through a pediatric clinic for children and their families in Singapore. In the area of play therapy, Dr. Pon is a Registered Play Therapy – Supervisor (RPT-S: S1618) for both the Association of Play Therapy (US) and Play Therapy International (SG). Dr. Pon is also an Approved Play Therapy Provider (APT Provider: 10-279).
